The Shanghai Children's Medical Center affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is a collaborative project between the Shanghai Municipal Government and the World Health Foundation (Project HOPE) in the United States. The hospital is located on Dongfang Road in Pudong, and is a pediatric hospital that integrates medical treatment, scientific research, and teaching. It covers an area of 100 acres, with a total construction area of over 60000 square meters and 500 approved beds. It has first-class building automation equipment and complete medical security facilities, and is responsible for the medical work of sick children in Shanghai and all over the country, as well as children of foreign nationals coming to China.

Shanghai Children's Medical Center has departments including Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology, Cardiovascular Medicine, Developmental and Behavioral Medicine (Child Health), Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Stomatology, Dermatology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Imaging Diagnosis Center, Experimental Diagnosis Center, Pharmacy, and Special Clinic. It also offers general, specialist, special needs, and difficult disease clinics. In 2011, Shanghai Children's Hospital collaborated with Shanghai Xinhua Hospital Pediatrics and Shanghai Hongci Children's Hospital affiliated with China Children's Medical Research Center to carry out cooperation in the field of pediatric difficult and complicated diseases, which greatly improved the outpatient services for special needs and difficult diseases.
