The Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, developed from the first women's and children's hospital in Shanghai - Ximen Women's and Children's Hospital, was founded by American Margaret Williamson in 1884. Due to its red roof at the time of creation, it is affectionately known as the "Red House Hospital" by the general public and patients, and has been repeatedly rated as a civilized unit in Shanghai.
For over a hundred years, with the joint efforts of Professor Wang Shuzhen, one of the founders of obstetrics and gynecology in China, and several generations of obstetricians and gynecologists, the scale of the obstetrics and gynecology hospital has continued to expand, and the discipline has developed rapidly, cultivating and nurturing a large number of experts and professors such as Zheng Huaimei, Yuan Yaoe, Wang Juhua, Tang Jifu, Zhang Xiyin, Li Chaojing, Yu Jin, Zhang Zhenjun, Zhuang Yiliang, Huang Minli, and Gui Suiqi. At present, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has a complete set of sub specialties, balanced disciplinary development, and a complete talent pool. It is a nationally renowned tertiary specialized hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research.
